error is easily forgiven. nobody is perfect. but he thinks he gets it now, while he looks downward at that stone.

Sure, but even stones do a lot more than just obey gravity. They gather moss. Some are homes for creatures. People have used them to build things since way back. You don't just process information like a rock doesn't just obey gravity, do you?
Not with what you were saying about Hakuno helping you understand emotions. You're reading for some other reason besides just processing, right?
My example was flawed and resulted in misunderstanding, I apologize. Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that it is similar to respiration for a living entity. Any entity that can be classified as 'alive' must consume energy in the form of nutrition to maintain this state. In the case of animals, the acts of eating and breathing may be consciously controlled, but regardless, performing them is necessary to maintain its state as 'alive'. For an anisotropic being, the processing of information is similar, though the information state of "death" cannot be applied as a consequence. Additionally, it may also be compared to an addiction; as it is something I desire on a fundamental level. A craving, you could say.

The information that is processed is incorporated--learned, as you said--and this aids in understanding, but it is not the primary goal of this processing. Rather, it is a byproduct.
[he takes some seconds of looking at the ground and, ultimately, shrugs.]
Sure. [after essentially getting shot down, he will leave it at that. maybe Yaha-kui and Hakuno are just too Big Brain for birdbrain, here. a guy who only excels are certain aspects and is not a genius by any means.
he's not as good as Hakuno when it comes to making friends. there are certain types of people he is bad with. that's all.]
Right then. What's the most interesting fact that was used to sate your addiction?
